FitFor - 50 Years with Physio

Physical strains such as neck and back pain are more common than you might think. They can cause serious and long lasting challenges, discomfort and affect your overall quality of life.

The suffering can be experienced by anyone: from those with sports injuries, working long hours at a desk or looking down at a phone too much; neck and back pain can be a serious drag on your everyday life.

The truth is, you shouldn't have to suffer, and while there are many ways and many practices that can help you get back to a better quality of life, it can be difficult and sometimes overwhelming to know where to start.

The world is full of manual therapists, and it can be confusing to work out the difference between them and what the best option is for you.

Physiotherapy combines treatment and exercise to treat and rehabilitate injury, and it’s the combination of treatment and exercise knowledge that sets physio apart from the rest. It can help you, not only to recover from your injuries, but also give you the tools to maintain your health.

Once you have identified the right type of treatment for your needs, it’s time to find the right professional to treat you.

Without wanting to blow our own horns here, the combination of treatment and rehab skills are best suited to identifying and fixing musculoskeletal injuries and ensuring they don’t recur. And that’s at the very heart of our approach here at FitFor.

FitFor is a proud, family owned business with over 50 years of experience in the physio field. Co-founder of FitFor, Libby Sharp, is our very own physio legend.

Since starting her first practice back in 1978, she has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise within her profession: whether through those whose work depended on physical fitness, from West End performers and sports teams, to private individuals recovering from too many hours on the home-office chair, Libby has seen it all.

Libby’s first practice began at her family home in Camberwell where she started as a sole trader. Beginning under the name of Elizabeth Sharp Physiotherapy, later ESPH (a name many of you might recognise) it has now evolved into FitFor.

As the practice grew, Libby and her husband converted the ground floor of the house into a fully equipped physio practice with two treatment rooms, a reception area and a cloakroom. As it was able to accommodate those on crutches or in wheelchairs, it provided quality treatment for people of all needs.

In 1989, Libby bought a practice in Harley Street.

This practice, in particular, allowed her to gain experience working with professionals involved in over 18 different West End musicals, and to build upon a reputation for screening both existing and new stage performers so that injuries were, as far as possible, avoided altogether.

Screening is a practice FitFor still uses as an integral part of today’s techniques, in our approach to both treatment and exercise ensuring the ability not only to treat a person’s injuries, but also to help them stay healthy. Libby’s experience is broad and deep, and you truly couldn't ask for a better and more experienced consultant.

At the FitFor Physio practice today, Libby oversees a full team of highly-trained, experienced physiotherapists whose fundamental objectives are to win against the pain and increase a patient’s quality of life.

At FitFor Physio we pride ourselves on evolving our treatment practices and techniques, so we can always provide the best quality services.

Physiotherapists often witness surgery to better understand and manage postoperative care, and work closely with medical professionals particularly when patients require rehabilitation treatments. Suffering from strains in your everyday life? -
